Our Story

It All Started in DC...

The DC Bocce League was founded in 2004 by a close group of friends who lived in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC. After playing with other recreational leagues around town, the founders decided to put together a social sports experience that was more in tune with their lifestyle. Bocce was the obvious choice! Easy to play, bocce creates a space for players, often with a drink in hand, to engage in friendly, casual competition. The League instantly attracted an assorted group of people in their 20s and 30s looking for an excuse to share a new meet-up experience.

Major League Bocce is Born

It wasn't long before the DC Bocce League began to expand to multiple locations throughout the DC-metro area. After several years operating the DC Bocce League to great success, the founders put together an expansion strategy to bring bocce to locations outside of DC. In 2011, the team launched Major League Bocce in Philadelphia, their first location outside of DC.

growth & expansion

Major League Bocce expanded next to Boston in 2012 and continued to grow over the next few years. Today we operate leagues in 11 cities across the US, from Austin to Boston and a bunch of cities in between. Our leagues register 12,000 players per year, which makes Major League Bocce the largest organized bocce league in the U.S.
